Avenel Alligators Swim Team

We would like to welcome all Avenel children aged 4 to 18 (as of June 1, 2026) to an exciting season with the Avenel Alligators Swim Team (AAST). Our team competes in the CCSDA (Country Club Swim and Dive Association) B division. Our primary focus is to have fun while providing instruction for each individual as they reach their potential in competitive swimming.

To participate on the swim team, children must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted. Children who cannot swim or are not yet able to manage one length unassisted are invited to join our pre-team. Once a child can swim across the pool, they may join the team at any time during the season based on the coach's assessment.

Please note that all swim team members must reside full-time in Avenel. Eligible swimmers must be children of current Avenel homeowners or renters. Each address can only be used for registration once per household.

Swim Team and Pre-Team practices begin the day after Memorial Day (Tuesday, May 26) and continue until mid-July for the pre-team and July 28 for the regular team. Swim meets are generally held on Tuesday and/or Thursday late afternoons/evenings. Practices for each group are generally offered Monday through Thursday until June 15, and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after June 15.

Practices are not mandatory, but they are highly recommended. Please ensure your swimmers are punctual and come prepared (with goggles, towel, and cap). New skills and training will be taught on a daily basis, and it may be difficult for your swimmers to improve without consistent attendance. Children in the Pre-Team do not swim in CCSDA meets, but will have their own (and very popular) Lollipop Meet in July.

Please complete this registration, including the required sections and e-signatures of the child’s parent(s), the parent release, the CCSDA Code of Conduct, and payment of the applicable registration fee.

Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment should be made by check, payable to AVENEL ALLIGATORS SWIM TEAM INC., or via Zelle. Please mail the check to Ben Cassady, 8941 Holly Leaf Lane, Bethesda, MD 20817 (Attn: Avenel Alligators Swim Team). If you wish to make payment via Zelle, please text Ben Cassady at 202.341.9143 with your name and request the Zelle QR Code. After payment has been received, your registration will be confirmed when you receive an acceptance email from AAST.

Swimmers who are not registered before the first practice will not be permitted to participate in any team activities, including practice, until they are properly registered and paid.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE (tentative times subject to change)

All practices will be held in the afternoon. Swimmers will be assigned to a group based on the coach's evaluation during the first week of practice.

From May 26 to June 15:

• Pre-Team: 4:30–5:00 pm (Mon–Thu)
• Juniors Level 1: 5:00–5:45 pm (Mon–Thu) – 10 and under
• Juniors Level 2: 5:45–6:45 pm (Mon–Thu) – 12 and under
• Seniors: 6:45–7:45 pm (Mon–Thu) – 13 and over

From June 15 to July 26 (Generally, swim meets are scheduled on Tues/Thurs):

• Pre-Team: 4:30–5:00 pm (Mon/Wed/Fri)
• Juniors Level 1: 5:00–5:45 pm (Mon/Wed/Fri)
• Juniors Level 2: 5:45–6:45 pm (Mon/Wed/Fri)
• Seniors: 6:45–7:45 pm (Mon/Wed/Fri)
